While it can be stated various ways, scripture indicates the reason every church exists is to accomplish four essential purposes:
Abide in Christ – At the core of who we are is the practice of living in God’s presence. This requires prayer, seeking God with a whole heart, loving Him, waiting on Him, and worshipping Him for who He is. Without this, the center of our spiritual life is missing.
Join together – As we commit ourselves to each other, we move from a “consumer Christian” to a giver, from a spectator to an active participant in the building up of God’s body, the church. We’re becoming a close interconnected family that invests heavily in each other.
Equip for Service – Through a strong emphasis on teaching God’s word, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we aim to be conformed to the likeness of Christ, transformed by His power from the inside out, that we might serve him with our time here on earth.
Proclaim the Gospel – We strive to engage and evangelize our community, our culture, and our world with the gospel. Through sharing and living out our faith, we proclaim the good news of grace, mercy and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
These four purposes will guide us in becoming the biblically-balanced, God-centered “Equipping and Sending Station” we believe God has called us to be. Our hearts desire is that we might do these things to glorify and enjoy God. He is worthy of all praise and honor and glory!
