The joint mission of Potomac Baptist Church and EXPLORE Learning School is to nurture and grow a God-centered, student-focused educational opportunity for diverse learners. Our goal is to equip students to adore and love God above all things; understand the world God created; and develop skills in reading, writing, math, and science to engage and evangelize people in our world for Christ. Our joint mission extends beyond the classroom to serve each other and participate in community outreach activities.
“A Christian classroom experience where students exalt Jesus and put creativity, positive thinking, and strategies to work.”
EXPLORE Learning School is a Christian microschool experience for children in grades one to eight who have learning differences. Early interventions are key to building confidence and developing academic skills that create strong, independent learners for life! Students with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, visual and auditory processing issues, working memory weakness, limited attention (ADHD), or executive functioning challenges will benefit from this explicit, systematic approach to learning, powered by an educational therapist in each classroom. No need for push-in or pull-out sessions! Our students participate in educational therapy in the classroom and build knowledge through in-person educational games and sensory, hands-on discovery experiences across the curriculum.
All our teachers will be certified to provide educational therapy through the National Institute for Learning Development. The teacher-to-student ratio will be no more than one to six to maximize student engagement.
We do not assign homework, which promotes time for family, church ministry, and extracurricular activities after school. Explore Learning School schedules frequent events, which may include weekly field trips, Lego lab experiences, culinary instruction, art, and other creative endeavors.
